I'm also facing the same problem, i'd observed that it happens with some browser only, and sometimes it is ok with other browser... but most of the time i face same problem... lets choke it out..... i'll try my best..
I would like to tell you something about Google talk, that we have proxy server here which do not allow authentication of goole talk permission, do you use any other messenger like yahoo which i use and sometimes it work here..... :D
